How To Reduce Frizz When Humidity Attacks!

It's a fact, we hate frizz! and we would do anything in our power to tame this monster. In humid climates, it forgives no one. Sure, excessive heat, chemical and textured hair all contribute to wild unruly tendrils. Yet, the main culprit is moisture deficiency, created by high levels of humidity.

When you have frizzy hair, it gives the false idea that your hair may be damaged. This is not necessarily true, as you can have frizzy healthy hair. Keep in mind that, dryness, split ends and breakage compound frizz, making it a challenge to maintain moisture and smoothness.

There is no treatment in the world that gets rid of frizz permanently. However, most of us know about keratin and the wonderful thing it does to win the battle against frizz. It's the only treatment, so far, that smooths and straightens the hair  for up to 3 months. The treatment is a bit pricey, but it works!

If splurging on this treatment is not in your near future or you just don't want to part ways with your curls, then consider these economical frizz control alternatives:

Myrrhea by Rene Furterer
Gently smoothes hair and eliminates frizz with an innovative and effective combination of natural ingredients. Myrrh extract, a smoothing resin, instantly smoothes and controls rebellious volume while Avocado oil delivers intense hydration. This exclusive formula provides unruly hair with infinite smoothness, silkiness and shine.
Summer Hair by Fekkai
A lightweight smoothing cream enhanced with Oceanic Cooling Complex and made with sea kelp extracts. It hydrates parched summer locks while protecting against unwanted frizz and fly-aways. Leaves hair soft, shiny and more manageable.
Total Results Anti-Frizz Contouring Lotion & Defrizzer Gel by Matrix
It maximizes frizz prevention from the combination of jojoba oil and wheat starch. It also nourishes with wheat protein for perfect, shiny curls

Frizz Styling Spray by Living Proof
Formulated for fine to medium frizzy hair. No Frizz Straight Styling Spray is a quick-absorbing, weightless formula that eliminates frizz for a straight, shiny style with natural movement. No Frizz features PolyfluoroEster - the first new anti-frizz technology in 30 years to effectively block humidity for beautifully soft, silky, frizz-free hair. Works great on colored hair, too.

For better results and to reinforce frizz control, use the corresponding shampoo and conditioner. If you are going to spend your day sailing or in humid areas, by all means, prep your hair. How?

1. Choose a line that helps to control frizz (see above recommendations)
2. Shampoo your hair
3. Condition your hair
4. Apply anti-frizz leave-in treatment and style

When detangling your hair (dry or wet) use a wide tooth comb. Brushes will only create more frizz. Your fingers are a great tool, use them too!

To summarize, your hair (no matter what length or condition) only needs up to 4 products: A moisturizing shampoo, moisturizing conditioner, a leave-in anti-frizz treatment and an anti-frizz serum, after your blow-out ...That's it!!!

Home Hair Coloring: Tips on How to Reduce Your Anxiety and Increase Your Confidence

We take pride on being self-sufficient. In fact, as parents we encourage our children to be independent from a very early age. Do-It-Yourself (DIY) projects are increasingly becoming  more and more like a staple for cautious spending. As a colorist, I do not condemn the use of store bought color. I believe people have needs and sometimes their resources cannot fully meet them. Another driving force to an increase in DIY home coloring, is today's economy and the Covid-19 Pandemic. Many men and women are finding very difficult to see their stylists on a regular basis, so they take the DIY challenge to save money and time. However, with any undertaken challenge comes a mixture of emotions. Going to a drug store to choose the perfect hair color shade can be a very daunting experience. The biggest obstacle for women (and men) is choosing the right shade. Manufacturers do a fantastic campaign job ( with high profile mo...

What It Means To Be A Master Hairdresser

“If people knew how hard I worked to get my mastery, it wouldn’t seem so wonderful at all” Michelangelo Instant mastery of hairdressing skills is something we all like to achieve as soon as we complete beauty school. Wait, not so fast! The reality is that the road ahead can be demanding and laborious. Becoming a master hairdresser requires humility, patience and hard work. Like any other field, hairdressing has its specialties (color and hairstyling) and sub specialties (keratin, texture hair, sessions, updo, etc.). It gives us ample choices to select an area to master. It's been tested and tried, no matter the field, that time and practice leads to expertise. No matter where you are, it takes at least two years of preparation to be a good hairdresser and six years and above to be great or achieve mastery. No matter how skillful you may think you are, the more you learn the greater you’ll be. Albert Einstein once said “Only one who devote...
