How to Maintain Healthy Hair & Scalp

Hair is not just hair, it's a fabric. It plays a very important role in one's identity and self esteem. When hair feels healthy or looks beautiful, we feel great! This fabric, we call hair, adorns our whole being. Like silk or cashmere, it's requires special treatment to maintain or improve longevity and integrity. All hair and scalps are not created equal. Here is how to take the first step to healthy beautiful hair:   • Determine what type of hair and scalp you have Scalps are categorized as dry, oily, flaky, dandruff, combination and normal. Please keep in mind that having oily scalp does not signify that you have oily hair. Your scalp may be oily, but your hair may be dry, damaged or healthy.  • Always choose shampoos to treat your scalp and hair needs If you have oily scalp and dry hair, use shampoos that will control oil build-up. Use conditioners to hydrate your mid-lengths and ends. At least once a month, pamper your mid-lengths and ends to a dee

How to Promote Healthy Hair Growth

HAIR LOSS & THINNING One of the best comforts you can have when life brings you traumatic experiences is to know that you are not alone. Hair loss in women is not as socially acceptable as hair loss in men. Like so, women's anxiety, fear, confusion and feelings of helplessness can be exponentially higher than men's. Many women are now, increasingly, experiencing hair loss/thinning more ever. The common questions asked is: "What can I do?  Why is it happening? or How can I make my hair grow again?" While there is no cure for hair loss, there are ways to encourage healthy hair growth, thickness and luminosity. Before I go on describing what you can do to make your hair beautiful and strong, it is important to consider what are some of the factors that may cause hair loss and damage to the follicle. According to the Mayo Clinic, we shed about 50-150 hair strands daily. Our head holds over 100,000 strands. If you start noticing unusual hair loss and/or d

How to Manage Your Curly Hair

Beautiful Curly Hair! Curly hair can be regarded by many, including myself, as a mixed blessing. It's like having a "Bipolar Relationship" with them. Some days we love them dearly and other days we just want to get rid of them forever. Having curly hair, however, may not be the main problem. I believe the real discontentment arises from the condition of curly hair.  This type of hair texture is prone to dryness and frizziness leading to out of control episodes. It's no wonder we wish to have no fuzz easy to style straight hair. I mean, who wants this headache!!!? The question then is: Why is curly hair so different? Research shows that hair follicles determine the shape and pattern of your hair. An oval shaped follicle produces curly hair, while a circular shaped follicle produces straight hair. The good news or bad news is, that hair (and possibly follicles) is constantly replacing itself. You can see these changes as you grow from childhood to adulthood. Y

How to Keep Your Hair Color Looking Beautiful!

Rethinking color change begins as soon as summer begins and ends. The Summer’s sunlight helps control brassiness on blondes, while darker and red color tend to fade. Although, color transformations occur during the Summer and  Winter months, hair color is constantly being reinvented. Here are some ideas on how you can always keep your hair color looking beautiful. For the brunette, adding a glaze or adding warn highlights (honey, caramel) can be just the right change you need to enhance your color and your complexion. For the blonde, adding a few lowlights (a level or a level and a half below your color) it's just what's needed to add dimension and  a more natural looking appearance. For the redhead, keeping your reds warm by way of glazing (golds, coppers) and staying away from cools tones (e.g, violet reds) will help maintain your color vibrant and rich. Do not be afraid to re-invent yourself and your color. Just analyze and consider your lifesty
