Ombre is a French word that signifies “shaded or shadow.” In hair color it describes the gradual change in color from dark roots to light ends. The original Ombre debuted about 4 years ago. Cosmopolitan cities like Los Angeles and my beloved New York City Started this trend. Celebrities like Drew Barrymore, Jessica Biel and Chloe Kardashian became fans of this trend. It did not take long for the mainstream to take notice. Ombre was raw, blunt and it became the hottest trend ever requested at salons. Ombre is still hotter than ever, thanks to this year’s makeover. Instead of the extreme and overpowering Ombre we saw in 2012 and the years before, expect 2013 to bring a more subtle and sophisticated form of Ombre. Subtle Ombre is here to stay.
